Community Pathways is my way of honouring my people, our deep connection to Country and my love of roller derby. It carries the strength of our Ancestors - their stories, resilience and wisdom continuing to guide the paths we walk and skate today.
This design celebrates the many pathways that bring us together as a derby community - different journeys, different stories, different mobs, all meeting in shared movement, strength and belonging. The track and Aboriginal symbols speak to those connections: the roads we travel, the people we stand beside and the community we build together.
We all move on sacred land. Yet roller derby still holds many barriers for First Nations people - access is not equal, and the fight for recognition, respect and true inclusion continues.
May this design be a reminder to honour Country and the First Peoples of the land beneath our wheels, to carry respect in our hearts and to never take our presence here for granted.
